What's in the box!

Yes. You could destroy a tube if you didn’t follow procedure.

Each tube has a specific set of control settings and voltage. You could also smoke the tester if you don’t use set procedures.

Blame it on @jb77! LOL

Got another great deal on these, I couldn’t pass up. The hunt is over for the secondary/office rig.

I just put them in as the reading wasn’t making any sense to me.

Man, that’s a sweet stack.

I really want to hear what that M Scaler is doing.

Looking forward to your impressions/review.

music streamer from the dark side
for all our services like Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify Premium and Amazon Music HD

Pad on a stand > camera connection kit > RME ADI 2 DAC fs > THX AAA 789

gonna keep my old Android Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, my wife gets the new Apple iPad Air and we use her old iPad Air as streamer

so not switched over to the Apple camp

Guess which idiot forgot the blue/short ifi USB cable at home

question to all the Apple experts: is there a reliable working plan B, besides the camera connection kit? would get a second one for mobile use, not that the 45 Euros for the kit did not been enough.

I can´t stand the shiny white, thin and icluded predetermined breaking points on the original Apple cables.

So maybe in dark grey, any colour or dark, if it needs to be? with a stronger build?
find all the original apple cables are super fast worn off, so we have everywhere in the house, the offices, the cars and with the power banks for mobile use… the third party apple firewire + usb-c/-micro cables with better build and look.

Most important is the reliable working thing - there is so much trash out and I know me - I get it, try it and won´t send it back, if it does not work. So please do the environment and me a favor and recommend just something you have in use or know to be working. Especally with apple having a history of not working with interconnections of all sorts - not important if original apple or a third party pieces.

Here’s what I use with the DFC.

There is one issue, I don’t know if it’s the adapter, the DFC, or iOS, but sometimes during music playback via the DFC if I begin to type something the music will distort and then cut out. It’s pretty annoying, I just pause the music if I’m going to type something substantial such as this post.

The adapter has the same cheap cable that will kink, and likely break over time. I’ve wrapped mine in medical tape to prolong this from happening. It seems to have worked, but is an ugly solution.

Thank you buddy!

first for taking the time, pausing your music and writing back to me in a substantial post

it’s going to be my mobile connection for the xDSD.
This takes less space compared to the bigger camera connection kit in my Peli Case 1030 for the DAC/Amp.
Got the cck crammed in, though with this addition, I had to use my high level Tetris skills.
Ifi OTG cables are 12 bucks, work superb, look like they do, are sturdy and never failed or had hickups…even got one for free after a contact with the support

This is going to be my first purchase at the Apple online shop, I am scared. Not that I end up with diving in this dimension and never come back… hahaa
Already saw a nice detail/solution with using an iPad as second screen on a Macbook… there are free multiplatform software solutions like “Spacedesk Beta III” … love such details.

I can report the connection kit works. The thing needed a firmware update (of some kind) first, which made me wonder.
Your idea with the tape is a good one. Did this to many audio monitoring stuff, in the far away past.
Don’t care much about the “do it yourself look” as long it works a bit longer.
Found out my used stand is not ideal in height and get another 3way adjustable one, which Katja already uses. So the cable does not get bend as much and the tablet is more stabile.

Long answer for a simple “thumbs up”

Have a nice weekend!

I found this stand. It’s similar in style to the Thomann bought stands we have. Thought I’d post it since you mentioned your use case with the iPad.

Oh this looks great

the one I was writing about is this not 3way, but 2way adjustable one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07SR9JG1W/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_csUVEbEBHYS7Q

I need the vertical adjustable option- otherwise I am forced to let the cable run free sideways(iPad in horizontal) and not sit on my sofa armrest.
Prefer to have the iPad vertical, with the cable running down. So all streaming services show me more information with playlists and songs in the albums

Yeah, that’s the only downside to the bent wood style, it’s lack of adjustability.

With the pretty wood stand… could run it upside down, with the cable running over the top, though this screams to my OCD
The firewire-out connection gets stressed all the time and the weak cable gets bend hard… this is such a let down.
Would love to simply buy a Node 2i or another streamer like the CA CXN V2 … and use a Tablet or phone as remote.
Had a top deal via my company for my wife’s new iPad and want to get something to work…

I’m all for the Node 2i, it’s worked really well for me. :+1:t4:
