ZMF Headphones - Official Thread

I agree, that Burl is very tempting, sell the Zircote and get Burl is the question of the day,

My fantasy headphone du jour is a ziricote Aeolus with stainless steel hardware (to match the bolts on my neck).

I had a loaner sapele Aeolus for nearly 2 months and that wonderful HP wrecked my entire sense of audio order. I own or owned a number of headphones that really please me, but the Aeolus instantly jumped to top of the pile and made me doubt some of the others. More accurately, it made me realize I’m not putting any real time into listening to 2-3 others, and will soon sell them.

The Aeolus is hands down the best all-rounder I ever heard

I broke down and emailed ZMF to see if they would do a Verite closed in the Camphor Burl, I have had the Verite closed on loan to me for a couple of weeks but I just got the Cayin HA-300 back out and OMG, Bass, Bass, Bass for days! I love bass!!

I know what you mean about the VC. I’ve had a loaner VC for ~1 wk & listened to it on 3 amps. The bass is always neutral, nuanced, dynamic, with excellent timbre. But it seemed to get bigger & hit harder on 1 of the amps. Not bloated or elevated in level–just somehow larger. Can’t figure that out, but I sure like it.

So far, the VC isn’t amp-picky. It sounded great on all 3 amps. But it certainly can sound different on different amps.

It’s ZMF November. Bought a set of Aeolus cans today with a Atmos C cable. Bubinga wood. Should be a wonderful set of headphones.

Thanks. I wore the poor guy out asking questions, but he was very helpful throughout. This will be my first set of ZMFs. I bought an Amps and Sound Kenzie Encore from him last year about this time.

Picked up an ATMOS C XLR cable to go with it.

Get any pads with it? Try the perforated Eikon suede.

Congrats on the recent Aeolus purchases  You won’t regret it! I can’t put mine down

Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t sound as expected upon first listen. Burn in is real with these headphones and they will open up quite a bit after 20, 50, 100, 150, etc hours.

Also the camphor burl looks out of this world! Wow! So much flavor!

Here are a few pics of my Aeolus with ziricote wood and stainless hardware. I started with the stock pads and recently switched to the perforated suede universe pads which I’m really enjoying. Currently running with a JDS Labs Atom amp, but am planning to build a Bottlehead Crack with a custom ziricote wood base to match the Aeolus.

Question: On average, how long does it take them to assemble the headphones and send them out?

3-4 weeks? Thanks,

It has varied for me, depending on what and when I ordered.

Initial orders for new models or new LTD edition wood offerings tend to be longer, especially if ordered a day or two after they’re announced.

Ordering a Vùritù Closed right now I’d guess would be 8 weeks or more. I’ve had builds in three weeks. I’ve had one take three months (though that was a pre-order).

Thanks. I ordered a New Aeolus Bubinga under the ZMF November pricing. I believe it was a Aeolus LTD from last year. I don’t ever mind waiting a bit for good things. I think my Headamp GSX-mini took about 10 weeks - its a great amp and was worth the wait.

The ZMF November specials are already made so it should just be a matter of QC (if not already done), packaging, and shipping them out. My B-stock Aeolus took about 1.5 weeks to arrive from time of purchase.
