I’ve been using this pads for the last 4 days. This is basically the same with Perf. universe lambskin that comes by default with the unit. The only difference is the part that touches your face - suede. The inner and outer wall are lambskin. I can’t hear any sonic difference if there’s any.
It’ll be an upgrade if you like the suede feel vs lambskin. Get the Perf. universe suede pads if you want to change the sound into more neutral territory.

Interesting they sound the same as the Vérité perf. Supposed to be a middle ground between the universe and Vérité. Guess we’ll see. If they sound the same to me it’ll be fine.

The perf. universe lambskin is the one I’m comparing with perf. universe hybrid suede/lambskin. Not Vérité perf. The one that’s a middle ground between universe and Vérité (claim) is the BE2 pads. I have these pads too. I still prefer the universe pads over these. The BE2 pads lose quite a bit of sound stage - for my setup that is.

Yeah I typically use the Vérité perf Lambskin but i just ordered the BE2 perf hybrid. Should be here tomorrow so I’ll report what I hear from them. It seems like everything else, most have different opinions.

No worry man. I was just as confused when I started research on ZMF pads. Good thing the first two purchases are spot on. They lined up nicely with the rest of equipment chains I have so I can close the chapter early. Yeah, lets us know how you like the hybrid BE2 pads. Take care

Bloody mother nature and her various viruses. I get to go work a COVID assessment clinic tomorrow and whatever following selected days as determined by my betters… cant wear headphones there; although to be fair, I havent actually asked.
I picture myself with a VO powered by a micro iDSD BL strapped to my side all covered with saran wrap and N95 straps… good times.
Maybe I’ll order myself a VO as a reward after getting through all this.

I would recommend getting one for the whole social isolation thing we’re all enjoying at the moment but Zach still has to make them so I’m not sure they’d arrive in time. As a reward, definitely a great idea hahah.

Great review as always, I have to admit your reviews are at least my benchmark standard before listening to another review.
Now that I have sucked up… Do you still consider the Verite to be one of the most enjoyable headphones to date?
I am interested in picking up the Utopia but after looking at the Verite… I had to look at pros and cons.
Utopia Pros - Better detail, bigger manufacturer, and the Clears and Stellia’s are just amazing headphones.
Utopia Cons - Tonality, stage, and dynamic slam with its less to be desired bass response.
Verite Pros - Build, price, detail to cost, tonality, and dynamics. The Verite is a better all around headphone from what I am reading, does anyone agree with that statement?
Verite Cons - Smaller company, and long lead time.

I just had the Utopia on loan and I’ve got to say I prefer the Verite both open and closed over the Utopia… While the Utopia is phenomenal and 100% worth getting… I personally “enjoy” the Verites more. But, I am a ZMF fan big time so there is that to account for.
I am hoping to get the Stellia in soon as well. Because I think that will be more of a sound signature I can get behind while still performing at Utopia levels or dang near Utopia levels.

May I ask what was more enjoyable about the Verite?
Was there a type of music you prefer listening to on one headphone over the other?
I have heard that the Utopia is a bit boring and clinical.

The Verite just have a magic to them, I find I can listen to any Genre and be happy! Utopia shine more on classical, string, acoustics, brass, jazz, blues etc… but, are no slouch in Electronic or rock, punk, etc but I think Utopia are less all arounders like the ZMF Verites.
The Verite, has a a lush sound that instantly engages and keeps your attention.
I will also let it be known if not gleaned already my two current top headphone makers are ZMF and Focal… they are two sides of a coin… on one side Focal with modern design and excellent sound… on the other, ZMF with natural design that is classic and beautiful and unique to each headphone they make, with a sound that rivals any TOTL headphone on the market (individual preferences not-withstanding). I think, you can’t go wrong nor would you be disappointed by either. If you like warmer headphones go with the ZMF. If you like detail monsters and accuracy go with the Utopia.
