Album That makes you happy to exist?

Is there any specific album that makes you happy enough that it could be the theme track of your life for a little while? For me that’s Odesza In Return. It was during one of my many really hard years but I hear any track from that album and it just makes me want to smile. Some of the song’s were on repeat in my mind when I needed to drown out the crazy and I could listen to it any time and it would just make me feel good. It’s something that is immune to the days I listened to it.

For Us (feat. Briana Marela) in In Return (10 Year Anniversary Edition)

*Bonus points. Is there a track or album that helped you continue existing? For me there was one song that I found when I was in pure terror for life, This song was something I listened to over and over and just prayed that I could continue to live. And now I haven’t listened to it in years and my life is indeed everything I prayed for all those years ago. You Never Let Go by Matt Redman

A recent album that became the my happy theme track for a time is Fatboy Slim - Elevator Music

There’s a whole channel on YouTube called Elevator Music where they have DJs in an elevator-like studio do a live set and people enter and leave the elevator dancing all around. It’s crazy cool! I used to play Fatboy Slim’s Elevator Music album daily.

Track or album that helped me continue existing? Hmm almost every Tool album fits this description. When you have a band with that much talent that is about the same age as you, then you tend to be going through the same shit they are at the time. I’m going to pick Tool - Invincible from Fear Inoculum just because it is the most recent example for me.

A heart for Fatboy Slim, you know I’m not a fan of TOOL, easily as pretentious as YES.

One man’s pretentious is another man’s progressive.

Keep it simple, like Bach, two and three part inventions.

For me personally it’s “Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre”. One of the most versatile albums I’ve ever heard. The guitar work is phenomenal, the vocals are so emotional and crisp, and the variety through the whole album never leaves you bored even after many listenings.

By the way, Periphery released their new album this week, and it slaps! But for me “Djent Is Not a Genre” is something personal - it made me happy when things were hard and made me teared up when I really needed this. Oh, and production is great!

Definitely this.

Triumphant, meaningful and heartfelt. Most often I am battling the physical demands of my job in order to make a living and put food on the table for my family. When I listen to this album I never want to give up or quit no matter how hard "the system " pushes me.

Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov)

One of the most moving and beautiful composed music ever created. There are many versions that sound great.

Star Wars was fundamental to my childhood media consumption. I’m also a big EDM fan. So, this album hits the spot for me every time. ‎Star Wars Headspace - Album by Various Artists - Apple Music
