Hey guys. Just joined to ask a question about the P20.

First of all, it sounds really great as is with my aune dac, but I do plan to get a balanced dac soon.

I also want to try different tubes, and wanted to know if theres a difference between the Russian 6N3p and 6N3p E?
I found the 6N3P on amazon (where I live) but not the E version. Is it worth looking for the E or are the non Es just as good?

Thanks!

I upgraded to the Russian tubes and it really opened the amp up. It was a long delivery to Canada. About three weeks from the Ukraine. There was a dealer in Canada claiming to be selling Russian tubes, but they wanted $100.00. I paid $35.00 and waited several weeks. Worth it to me.

Changed the sound of the amp for the better. The amp and the tubes sounded better with time.

I bought an SMSL SU-8 DAC to have a balanced feed for this amp.

Loxjie P20 Balanced 6N3 Tube Hybrid Amp for under $100 - #90 by pukkita?

See @pukkita’s posts above for a lot of tube comparison info, including the 6N3 variants. I only have the factory and the GE triple micas mentioned.

Made a little upgrade. Balanced sounds way better!
Will try new Russian tubes too, after some time with the stock tubes.

Try GE5670 tubes. Riverstone Audio on Amazon was my source, they go in and out of stock and are matched, great packaging. Tubestore has them and will match them for you https://www.thetubestore.com/jan-ge-5670-2c51?quantity=1&additional_options=3

I thought I would put the new tubes I received last week into the P20 this morning but it seems that tubes are not drop proof!!

Oh well, I guess I need to order another set. Now I have a spare tube that is matched to itself

Still enjoying the P20 immensely. As much as I don’t like to admit it, I prefer listening to my music on my headphone setup at this point, compared to my loudspeaker rig I also thoroughly enjoy and obsess over.

I decided to go balanced DAC, and signed up for preorder now… @Torq’s review of the MASSDROP X GRACE DESIGN STANDARD DAC BALANCED was the tipping point. I had been eyeing this balanced DAC to pair up with the P20 and found the excuse I was looking for to pull the trigger on the purchase. MD says a shipping date of 8/20. I can’t wait to finally hear this amp in a fully balanced configuration. I’m hopeful it’s going to be a good pairing given all of the positive reviews I have seen on the DAC.

As a side note, I hope I get the DAC before Tool’s next album is out on the 30th, so I can enjoy it in full balanced delight. That would be magic for me.

If i get a 3.5mm trs to dual xlr will have the issue?

Welcome @muths66 , what issue are you referring to?

I am guessing that you are wanting to connect the 3.5mm output of some kind of player to the P20. I would suggest 3.5mm to RCAs.

I am using radsone es100(dac/amp) for temporary use so i thought using 2.5 balanced to xlr into p20.
I having another just dac portable one powerdacv2 this one only have 2.5mm trrs out.
Then i see early post like using 2.5 balanced might have hum issue. Coz es100 is either 3.5 trs or 2.5mm trrs that why i ask you.

This can use on p20?

I’m using this style on mine, but not from that vendor.

I gonna use a 2.5mm to xlr from es100 feeding to p20. i dunno i will get hum issue.lol

I don’t know what the outcome of the 2.5mm to 2 XLRs will be, it’s something that I have never done. Personally I would opt for the 3.5mm to RCA option.

I tried it from a variable (listening) output and the quality was inferior to a TRS to RCA line out (fixed level).

Some say p20 output impedance very high. I using verum one headphone which is 8ohm dunno suitable a not. Some use xduoo ta20 but the price zzzz

You can open them up and look or use a multimeter to be sure there isn’t any solder mess before you use them. .you don’t want shorted pins
