Yes it has. Most tubes do require some burn in. I’d say more but there’s a cat on my chest helping me type on my phone.
I’ve been given leave to move by Ms. Kismet. The tube has gained in clarity and soundstage, things I have no idea how to measure. I didn’t even listen to it for about the first 5 hours, just let it burn in, so perhaps I missed any brightness.
I did enjoy the Lyr 3 with any of the tubes I tried. Note that I went for the TungSol originally, which was supposed to be the upgrade over the JJ.
That’s the hardest thing about tube rolling, allowing the tube to work itself out before you swap it.
Funny I have tried a dozen tubes, each time thinking this will be the one!!!
After months with the Lyr 3 I enjoy the stock Tungsol tube as much as any of the other!

I’ve been there with tube rolling. Ended up back at stock often enough. My current tube complement isn’t stock anymore but I just gotta leave it alone for a bit and see where they go. I’m hopeful.
The Westinghouse took about a week, so I’m hoping this weekend will be the time.
Tomorrow’s my birthday so I have my finger crossed.
Happy Birthday for tomorrow and have a great day.
Thanks,
Lots of errands to run, but looking forward to a nice dinner with the family, and a little music time.
Ive never been sure what to make of these regarding high or low readings, especially from ebay sellers. If needed I just try to see if they appear to be internally balanced and/or matched pairs. Im hoping for precision, if not accuracy in the measurements.
I received a socket recently and have been using my Sophia in the Lyr. So far I’m very pleased with the results. Very clean and neutral sounding, with a nice open stage. I’ve only had it in for a few days, but it sounds really good to me.
I’ll update later as she ages.
Neat looking Chris!!
Love to test that tube in my tester!!
Also nice tube socker saver!!!

How do the Lyr 3 and Mj2 compare?
Never heard a MJ2…so cant comment…but they are different for sure.
Just look at the specs…

The Lyr 3 sounded (to me) a little more smooth and rounded in a musical and enjoyable way. It sounds a bit more tubey while keeping the desirable solid state traits. I consider it to be one of Schiit’s best amps.
Mjolnir 2 is also excellent, and one of the best amps for coaxing slam out of headphones across all frequency ranges. With the Amprex A frame tubes it was pretty neutral, but everything had a bit of emphasis on the impact of drums, guitar attack, etc. Very exciting amplifier, one I can see not matching well with some headphones like the Focal line that already seems to have that kind of emphasis. Your head might explode. With headphones like the HD650 and the like, it works well. It’s not a bright amp by nature, but it can get there with the wrong tubes. I really enjoyed Mj with the Aeolus and BF2.
The Mjolnir2 is the better of the two amps. The Lyr3 headphone section is good. I thought the DAC module was an afterthought. I returned the Lyr3 during the trial period and upgraded to Mjolnir2. I have since sold it.
In what ways is it better?? Curious?

I’ve had the Lyr for a few weeks now and I’m really smitten. As others have mentioned it has the benefits of a solid state amp, but many of the benefits of tubes.
I’ve tried a few tubes, stock JJ, a couple of nos, and currently the Sophia Electric. The latter being my favorite.
It’s a dynamic and well resolving amp. With the Sophia it’s fairly neutral, but with a really nice stage, and those sweet harmonics that only tubes provide. It really is a fantastic amp with plenty of power to drive most headphones.
It sounded better. More depth.
It’s also 4-pin XLR capable, as well as single ended. LYR3 is single ended only.
I was using good tubes in it too. Amperex Holland 6DJ8 Bugle Boys. In the LYR3 I was using a red base 5692. The Lyr3 is a capable amp. I just found the Mjolnir2 to be a step up.
Great and thanks for the reply.
The Lyr 3 has more power in SE over the MJ2 in balanced !
With the exception of a few milliwats at 300 and 60 ohms.
But there is more to “better” than just power…
I think the Lyr 3 is a better overall cost/value amp…but would not throw out a MJ2 either!!
