I was walking through Costco recently and realized that emergency foods have gone mainstream. Prepping isn’t just for preppers any more. Some food tubs include a variety of products, but then there is this: $120 for 28 pounds (12.7 kilos) of mac & cheese.
OMG. I just found my old adjustable dumbells, and am working my 66 year old arms with about 16 pounds each because I wasn’t ready for 25. Much different than going to the gym and using a machine, but gyms are notorious for C-19 transmission. I am a gurly-man. I used to do much better, but my upper body was never anything to brag about.
I’ve never believed in mixed. I don’t lift for max though. If I can’t lift using a more typical or “natural” technique than I leave it be.
Never deaded much over 4 myself. I need to get back into powerlifting. Im just happy with a 1000lb total. No lofty aspirations for me.
I got a good home gym with a cage and all that so I can’t even use the pandemic as an excuse. I picked up a forearm injury which made a lot of lifting difficult. I got a safety squat bar to take some pressure off but I have to get used to it as it’s a weird squat hybrid: middle between front and back squat which my back has to get used to.
I’m on a big weight loss journey right now. So cardio is my main thing even though I hate it. Lost over 40lbs so far. Once I meet my goal weight it’s back to lifting. Hopefully by spring.
