2545 pieces of glorious tremendousness!
What will be your theme?
Lord of the Flies?
Gilligan’s Island?
Plastic Beach?
Pirates of the Caribbean?
The Land that Time Forgot?
Probably something to do with time travel or other worlds as it will be surrounded by a preponderance of Star Wars lego.
Might make Darth Vader the pirate captain.
When I was growing up I had a friend who had this really awesome lego pirate ship, which was not something remotely affordable for my family as we were, well, essentially poor. So when I saw this set I felt had to close the circle. It can convert to just a pirate ship as well and not just the shipwreck.
Its the biggest set that I will be tackling to date. Likely a good 10-15 hour build. Just throw on the headphones and wander through it.
Lego is wonderful stuff. These fancy sets look great. I remember when it was just the normal stuff and not so many of the specialist packs were about.
This was my youngest son’s #1 Christmas gift. It was pretty much his whole Christmas.
He built it in about 10 hours. It hasn’t made it out of the dining room yet. (That’s where he built it) So I’m looking at it every day.
I’ve just started it. Figured it would take about 10 hours total. I usually do one part at a time so it may take me a few weeks to finish it. It’s been a fun set so far.
I have yet to figure a space to place it so I’ll probably keep it as a shipwreck rather than a ship plus a “beach”, takes up more real estate then my shelves can provide.
I have a couple of things I can rearrange so I’ll see what I can do but still think the shipwreck option is more interesting, at least for me.
If you need space, I could borrow your Starlett!
…
…
Yeah, My son did the shipwreck first, but then did ship+beach configuration a couple of days later. Extends the build time that way
20 character limit. The thing everybody hates.
What if I told you there is a very simple fix? Yup. Weird nobody figured this one out, I guess I’m among the few who like to play around with the forum code system
You just want to type in the usual code line for a spoiler… but you don’t put anything in there, so it is invisible, but it still counts as characters. (just remove the space before the bracket, I had to put it there so you know what to type):

Cheers
The whole point of the limit is to stop people posting worthless “+1” or “100%” as their sole response. Adds nothing but noise, and can be done simply by giving a “like”.
Always fascinating to me to see the, often significant, delta between what the media reports/posts/broadcasts (or how it is framed) vs. what you can hear on a scanner and the actual discussions between the units on the ground …
Never really thought about that. I know that I did see a couple of times people who just wanted to give a short comment and had to post “20 characters limit”
Hopefully my little “trick” doesn’t cause any spam, we are a small community, so I wouldn’t expect it
It’ll be fine. It’s probably more work (if cleaner looking) to do the “spoiler” trick.
Just wanted to point out why it was there.
Very true. Relatedly, on the ground footage for public events is the only time I use Snapchat.
OMG! That’s a huge kit!
I’m about 2/3rds through the pirate ship.
That’s gonna be a 20 hour build even if straightforward. Love it.
