I haven’t heard the Rad-0 yet, unfortunately.
Headphones for edm in my collection(no order)
1266
RAD-0
Empyrean
VC
SR007 2
TH909
My other headphones sound good with edm but don’t have the enough bass.
I listen to a lot of Synthwave and like the following cans for that:
Eikon - epic sub bass and a nicely lingering decay.
VC and VO - a step up in technicalities, good heft and punch, treble is never a problem for me.
R70x - neutral with good bass presence. Light weight for strain free listening.
The Eikon is on my list of must hear headphones from ZmF @Deepy ! How do you feel about the RAD zero vs. the Empy @BondDaBoom ?
I like the two equally. The RAD-0 does bass different more linear and Empyrean I feel is more in midbass and midrange. Both give a close presentation. The detail is better on the RAD, its easier to pick apart where the Empyrean you need to focus more on it.
Thanks @BondDaBoom !
I’m falling into the rabbit hole with the Euterpe.
Arrived today at the store where I repair turntables, listened to it and lost my eyes after it.
Since I see you used it a lot can you please give me your impressions about it as a DAC/Tube amp combo?
I saw you used it with Dan Clark Audio A2C which are among my favourite headphones.
I’m also considering a pair of Rad 0 to complement my Sundara, HD660s, Aeon Noire and GS1000 line up.
Thank you in advance.
Enjoy.
To my ears, nothing beats the bass quality and overall sound of the TH-900 (v1) for Electronic music!
I have some new thoughts on this subject stay tuned for my upcoming YouTube and written reviews!
I’m really digging Arya for electronic music. Give it a +3db bass shelf at 80hz and it packs enough punch to do justice to even the hardest hitting techno without ever sounding the least bit bloated or out of balance. And that famous Arya soundstage & imaging lets the synths and high hats sing.
I really enjoy the Focal Clears for electronic. The speed and dynamics that those drivers can produce… so good. They might seem bright for some especially when it comes to electronic, but having a warmer source and the warmer midrange really makes it an enjoyable experience. Eventually looking to add the Eikon to my collection… or a fostex headphone.
Hey, what is your warmer source? Warmer than which other?
Asgard 3, compared to THX 789 which I quickly sold after having the Asgard 3 in to compare.
I´m using a Clear as well, like them very much too! Want to deversify, add more flavour… so either getting another amp, maybe tubes, coming from a Questyle twelve. Thinking about planars because I can´t imaging that an Eikon or other sub 2000 dynamic headphone is better/much different than Clears.
For tubes I’ve heard really good things about the Feliks Audio Echo. They’ve just released the v2 and I’m thinking of trying it eventually.
I just got the HE6se v2 in from the $650 Adorama deal and I’m loving it. Less emphasized midrange compared to the Clears, little more upper midrange and better bass extension which is something planars are great at. Also got the Flux FA-10 a couple days ago, it’s pretty nice and I’m pretty sure I’m set on an amp that can properly provide all the power that planars strive for.
I want to eventually try the Eikons, they’re supposed to be really good at bass… just the weight scares me haha.
Echo would be a viable option for me as european, no import fees, but isn´t it supposed to have a better synergy with higher impedance cans than Clears? Please post if you eventually get a chance of trying it!
@SleepyRhythms and @bigshel99 have tried the Echo with the Clears and loved the combo. Sleepy has reached out and they’ve confirmed that the ratings were conservative and they work well for lower impedance headphones like the Clears. The v2 is now officially rated to work well with low impedance headphones
Warm and smooth. I love the A3.
Echo is wonderful with Clears. All the character of the amp comes through no problem. Just note a touch more weight in bass is added because of the impedance bump. MKII I have no idea.
Still using empys for electronic. Thinking about grabbing the rad 0 or maybe d8000 for some more aggression
