Did you get the CYAN as well or just the Azure?
Or had you already heard the CYAN? (I can’t remember).
The Empyrean remain interesting. Will be fun to see where they ultimately line up between the RAD-0, LCD-4 and AB-1266 Phi CC.

So far I’m perplexed by them, but to be fair I’ve only been listening out of the SR15
They do sound pretty darn good though. Very resolving, bass/low end is the weird part because it is more above/around… I attribute this to the diaphragm design.
Once again I need more quality time with them with other gear before giving a solid impression. Initial thoughts were ok, but as I listened I began to hear why people praise them. I was impressed that the SR15 was “capable” of driving them so well.
Drive them with the phonitor xe you have, the empy while very efficient scales very well with a good amp.
I’ll try and find some time today with them, work and life…
I did try them with the Azure, and they sounded great, but I only had a couple songs worth of listening.
Also I need to break my brain in…even the short amount of time I have had with the SR1A has broken the sound of other headphones lol.
This is part of what has caused so much disruption in my headphone collection/system. Between the speed and amazing dynamics, the pure timbre, the raw resolution and being able to project actual stage depth … it’s a bit of a transition to switch to other cans … and in some cases too much of one to want to bother with anymore.
I’ve been reading on other sites people having the opposite problem. But once acclimated, they have a hard time going back.
I’ll say initial impressions for the Empyrean is that it is along the same “feels” I get from the Verite. I will have to a/b but I think the empyrean has the edge in a couple of areas, but something is off about the sound for me, not in a bad way, but more in a preference way =) But more time is needed, as this could also be my brain being acclimated to other preferences.
Just got these in to compare to the ZSN and the ZS10 Pro (to see what I missed when I ordered the ZSN by accident).
Sorry for the blurry photo but at least they are purple… right??
(BTW, it will be a while before I compare them as I like to listen to things for a while first but I put them in for 5 mins just to test their functionality. My first impressions are “Where are the mids and why is everything so sibilant?” )
Purple for the win! Spread the gospel of purple! Lol
Do you have a photo of the N6-II and the SR15 side-by-side?
When you think you are getting a new headphones stand and aggressively open a box to find a different type of new toy… disappointment and joy all rolled into one lol
Just received the Sony IER-Z1R yesterday. Haven’t had the time to listen to it that much yet, but so far it’s amazing. Will post impressions and a comparison with the Solaris in a couple of weeks !
It comes in a jewelry box with drawers lol…look forward to your impressions! @jrockwell really enjoys his!
Yeah lol it sure is an experience. Wasn’t expecting that !
Very nice looking Iem. I bet it sounds great too. I would love to hear one myself.
I may have to grab one of those models eventually…or start making my own lol
