They mostly adequate?
Which? The RAD-0 or the DT880? hehehe
Edit: Rad-0 is completely “adequate”. Standard tuning build. One of the most enjoyable neutral sound signatures I’ve heard. Pairs well with everything.
DT880… hmm… They’re the least worst Beyer. Bottlehead crack makes them very muchly kinda quite ok-ish.
OK, but I’m asking which one? I have the 250Ohms and I really do like them: they’re light and extremely comfortable and I enjoy their sound through my ZEN DAC.
600ohm.
When I first plugged them in, bass was nearly non-existent and the treble was not pleasant. After a few hours or so, that changed. I want to give them a fair shake, so I feel more burn in time is needed. Need to test with more amps too.
I’ve owned the 990 premium, 770, 1770. I forget what impedance.
Here it is:
Sennheiser‘s last hurray in the consumer market which was developed and manufactured in Germany.
And it is an absolute hit in the bull’s eye after the first hearing experiences.
Seeing / listening to what Sennheiser AGAIN is able to do with their last two products
brings tears to my eyes as a German, because here in Germany we have sold or outsourced a lot of high-end companies and their products as well as productions. That hurts!
This doesn’t count but I’m posting it anyway because, well, I haven’t bought any new toys in a while, and because I’ve jut spent the last week packing and unpacking bloody boxes.
I hate moving. This was my fifth move in 11 years. Next time, I’m going to get movers (I said that after the last move).
Oooh, nice! I really want to try those out…
A flagship single dynamic driver iem is just what I desire…it also looks like Senny got the profile just right; looks so sleek and comfortable!
At least you saved the boxes.
Wunderbar. Congrats.
With the global IC shortage around the corner, it’s probably better to aim the banks towards headphones/IEMs this year.
I think I am curious about the Beyers. I have it on good info you have a very blue amplifier. Do they sound good out of that or actually better out of the BHC? I had DT990s 600 ohm that were brilliant out of an early Kenzie OG
That’s why I got them.
OK.
But why?
Let me rephrase that: WHY?
One factor may be that the blue amp builder favors Beyers.
The new owner of that Kenzie OG bought a 600 ohm pair of Beyer’s I believe on your recommendation @MokhaMark
Donald and a few others like Beyer, and say it pairs well. I figured it’s possible.
If you do buy Beyers, make sure you have a return policy. I won’t ever tell someone not to explore a new headphone or synergy. Experience is the best teacher after all.
With that said… More testing needed. Cannot commit to any answer.
I dig your Sony MiniDisc recorder!
Why?
Because when you pair Beyer’s with a slightly warmer tuned amplifier,
use Beyer’s own foam discs,
you can hardly get better headphones for a price between 110 € and 145 €.
I’ve been using the DT 990 Edition 600 Ohm for years on my Marantz receiver to watch blockbusters, and for this purpose there is hardly anything better on the market.
In addition, these headphones are light, comfortable and there are always spare parts for everything.
To be honest, I’m not a fan of Beyer’s tesla drivers either, but the DT xxx series is absolutely solid.
Comparing these to Rosson headphones is a little unfair.
Very tasty collection of gear and tech @Tchoupitoulas.
I have the Beyer DT880:250 ohm edition and I just picked up the 600 ohm. I think these headphones pair well with my Kenzie Ovaftion at either the 100 or 300 ohm jack. The Beyers are by no means my best headphone (that would be my ZMF Auteur or HE560, depending on mood and genre), but they have been a constant in my headphone journey the last twenty years. I EQ out a troublesome, for me, peak around 6-8 KHz and boost the bass. YMMV as I am a grey muzzle with damaged hearing. With the a tube amp the higher impedance Beyers certainly sound great.
