What's in the box!

Always wanted to try a pair of ZMF Classics, given the positive reviews. I find the Asgard 3 to be more flexible in that with its added power it can power just about any headphone. I do slightly prefer the Asgard 2 with planar magnetics in the 32 to 50 ohm range. Both of these headphone amplifiers are a real bargain for their performance. Especially the A2 at about $119. B stock Asgard 2s seem to sell out almost immediately when they are listed on Schiit’s Website. And these days they are rarely listed at all. All this and a 5 year factory warranty. No wonder they sell out so quickly.

I completely agree, I’m just a fan of the pure class A sound of the 2. The 3 was my first dedicated headphone amp and was a great introduction into the hobby.

It ain’t blue enough.

I agree, the Asgard 3 is a terrific all around headphone amp. Well worth the price.

Lol, I wish - more like “try them all”. Everything that doesn’t unseat existing gear moves right along.

I would love to try the Nautilus, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the used market, and that’s getting really up there in terms of price, even just to float for a while.

Absolutely right. It’s always tempting to say “well, I could just keep this one extra one, right?”. But so far, I’ve stayed disciplined and sold everything that isn’t my favorite within ~6 weeks

That’s exactly right. No non-blue amps are staying in the long run

I have been looking at this amp for the last couple of months, but the price is quite high for an European. But I am aiming at it… need the WAF!
Looking forward to your thoughts

LOL you sound like this is going to be disposed of, when you get the Stellaris. Repsect for your focus on audio gear, not many in this forum buy what you buy and in the same quantum; so let us experience it through you… reviews, reviews, reviews :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Record Store Day score. Stood in line for almost 3 hours, but got exactly what I wanted.

What did you think of the new Rough Trade space? I miss the Williamsburg store, I much preferred it for the bigger space and for having a decent CD selection.

Nice scores!

Nice choices! Im streaming the Charles Lloyd on tidal as we speak. The band comprises of some awesome musicians. Pete La Roca is a fave of mine (Basra is a dope album) and Gabor’s album Dreams is a banger!

most of Lloyds album are not my cup of tea but I like this one a lot

also can’t go wrong will that Evans too. looking forward to hearing that once resonance drops it on Tidal in a few months.

Although I live just a few blocks away, I hadn’t been to the new location until today. Because today is RSD and there were hundreds (thousands?) of people waiting in line, there was no browsing or exploring the store. I gave them a checklist of what I wanted to purchase, they pulled the records while I waited in line, then when I got to the front my records were at the cashier waiting for me to pay and leave so they could keep the line moving. So I didn’t really get to see much of the store. From what I saw it’s nice, though pretty small. Nice location, though - it’s more or less right next to Radio City. Maybe I’ll walk over tomorrow to properly check it out.

Thanks  I’m straight up obsessed with both Evans and Lloyd, so from the moment I learned about these releases there was never any question about whether or not I was buying them. I also have Basra on vinyl - great album indeed!

Listening to the Evans LP now. Quality is pretty good - I understand there was controversy about the quality of last year’s RSD Evans release, but I wouldn’t complain about this one at all. And the package is really nice - triple gatefold with a hq photo book insert. I’m quite pleased with it.

If you like “Manhattan Stories”, try “Rabo de Nube”. It’s divine, though sadly never released on vinyl.

I’d forgotten about it being RSD. The store’s great if you like vinyl. Interestingly, they’ve got a good amount of space set aside for books. And, lol, we were near neighbors - within walking distance - until last month when I moved out to NJ.

Enjoy the records!

I’m thinking of moving to NJ next year. I love living in the city, but I would also love more space. lol

From my experience if you don’t open the strange text message from someplace in China you won’t realize it. My first was a Spring and got a message that something shipped but didn’t say anything about what it was. My expectations are that Kitsuni would email me that it shipped.

Did you sell your Woo amp?

I didnt even get a text but they never asked for my cell number, I think I gave my home number as required but that was it. Maybe they assume everyone just uses cell phones now??

Nope! Just rotating between the three tube amps I currently have (Stratus V4 demo unit, Woo WA5, LTA MZ3). At some point soon the demo Stratus will have to go either back to Donald or the next potential customer, and either the WA5 or MZ3 will be sold. Also, diverging from the subject of tube amps, I imagine the SPL Phonitor will move along, as well. It’s great, but I just don’t use it, since I don’t have rack space for two amps, and I always have a tube amp on top, so any solid state listening ends up just being a direct plug-in to DAVE, despite the interface not being as nice as the Phonitor.
