This won’t be my last update this week but today I got the Mysphere 3.1 with a custom Norne cable and all the optional cushions as well as a Danacable Lazuli Reference for my Utopia
I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the Dana cable.
Curious if you were running HQPlayer with the May when you had it?
Of course, I didn’t mean to imply it’s the last word in R2R and there is definitely a lot of hype but with the right system, it could work pretty well. You do need to use HQP to get full juice out of it as the native OS is not the greatest, compared to Rockna, for example. But the price to performance is pretty good, especially for a good used one, imho.
Rockna Wavelight is another good option at a similar price but I haven’t tried.
Love it!!! Welcome to club Utopia I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by the Stellaris either. I’ve been listening to it nearly every day, doing some tube rolling, and daydreaming about Takatsuki 2A3’s…
I got my Wavedream Edition Balanced for a similar price that a May goes for second hand. It’s what I’m using today in my main system.
“Whats in the box? “ is definitely turning into “ club expensive.” lol.
Just did a minor adjustment. Put the G-Pads on my D-8000 and put aside the Stock “F-type” pads.
For all D-8000 owners out there you gotta Try it. Most I feel will be much happier.
The blackwood looks so nice in your hand, and is so hard to photograph!
I know this, as I have VO also in blackwood and copper. They look fantastic, and sound wonderful. The wood is so heavy and dense, but they’re still comfy with the cushy suspension design.
Did you get Mg or Al? Not that it really matters imo, the weight difference is negligible.
Happy listening!
Yes, it looks almost black in many pictures.
If I am not mistaken, it’s mg. This is not a factory order, I bought it from a distributor here in Finland… they had a very good Halloween sale on it
Happy day in my audiophile journey. I sold almost my whole record collection over the last month to be able to buy these. I always regretted selling my Lampizator Atlantic and I finally found another original as they don’t pop up for sale a lot. I also heard these 1266’s at canjam this year and I have daydreamed about them since then. Got good deals on both of these!
PS I got those water crackers on sale at Safeway. 20% off all specialty cheeses right now. You heard it here. Don’t sleep on that deal!
Great picks, congrats! What amp are you using to drive the 1266?
nice crackers!
20 char
I’ve moved on from my amber but I really did enjoy the lampi presentation; very compelling imo.
I’d consider their higher end dacs in the far future…
Awesome man , congrats at this awesome new addition!!
Really look forward to your thoughts how the water crackers pair with things like sharp cheddar, Camembert or Boursin. How would you compare them to a rye, soda or multigrain?
Still looks gorgeous! Can imagine how good it looks in person in natural light. I really like that Blackwood
Right now I’m looking around for a reference solid state amp but currently I have a schiit Ragnarok and a triode labs f138 (el84 amp.) both geared heavily for speakers so they both work and have enough power. I have a few amps I’m curious about. Also demoing an amp tomorrow at my local store.
@hifiDJ i have never heard the amber.I now need to make sure I like the Atlantic more than the Ayon Sigma before I sell that. Both such awesome dacs with tubed output stages. I find the magic in having the tubes in the output stage.
@Audiophool turophile is a real thing! Lol
Yes. Tubes rule. I’m sorry. I’ve never heard a better midrange than coming from or out of a tube amp over solid state. Depends on what you like, but tubes have a stranglehold over me. Lol.
Tried the Auris Nirvana recently. You can’t go wrong, gentlemen.
Is that fence there to train your tubes how to climb walls in military service, or to train them how to hurdle in footraces?
