What's in the box!

I see what you did there with the word nervosa.

I think I was spying this cable on the classifieds! Your pics are much better. Gorgeous cable!

There are 2 things pictured from fellow forum member @rustyrat here, 1 of which came yesterday. (Hint, it’s not the headphones!)

Thanks Casey!

Nice stand, but we don’t do suspension straps with stands like this.

I’ve been using straps with my stands for years with no issues.

Thanks! It turns out that the seller is local to us so he shipped the cable on Monday and it arrived Tuesday.

what are we looking at?

I think they’re resistors built into adapter plugs. Purpose??

Is this meant to be a way to run low impedance headphones on high impedance amps or something? Delivering something akin to Schiit Folkvangr tech via an add-on converter box? That’s the only thing that comes to mind.

I believe they are impedance adapters probably designed for sensitive/low impedance IEM’s.
I have an Ifi IEMatch I use on my Hyla Sarda, which I believe is similar.
It provides 2 functions, one is just an inline attenuator, the second is an increase in the load it presents to the amp. The Sarda is a 7 Ohm load, and even on SS devices like the Chord Mojo increasing that does make a difference.

My usage is for better control in the volume knob of the beefy amps I have here. Especially when using in-ears. In real life, that means turning the knob past 9 o’clock.

People tend to purchase these to reduce hiss though. Not my case as of today.

In addition, got them to play around how these adapters react to IEM drivers. It is proven it can shape the FR depending on the particular impedance of a given driver. This applies to the Dunu adapters shown in the picture though (simple resistors). The iFi tool is supposed to be transparent (small circuit of resistors).

PS.: reducing the volume in the OS is free. Don’t be this guy. :raising_hand_man:

The cable is beautifully crafted. I was going to purchase but they are sold out. No backorder date, ended up buying a 16 core occ cable. Nothing as nice as Drausk v2.

Thanks! There’s another Drasuk v2 on Head-Fi that terminates in 4-pin XLR and includes a matching 4-pin XLR to 1/4" adapter that was recently listed. While I prefer that configuration, my Atrium spends most of its time connected to the Folkvangr so I’m not too terribly concerned.

My turn… I’ll post more after work.

OK, I’m now done with attenuators. This XLR 4-pin is from Garage1217. Well built.

Well packaged:

I’ll post more in the Stellaris thread, but here’re the basics:

Ordered: Dec. 3, 2021
Received: May 1, 2023

It’s a Donald North Audio Stellaris with balanced and single ended inputs, and a stepped attenuator.

It replaces the superb LTA MZ3. Other components in the system: [ HQPlayer → Holo May | Rega P10 → EAT E-Glo Petit ].

For prospective DNA customers: it’s worth it and I had a great experience with Donald.
