I wanted a bit more cushion for the top of my head at times with the 800S. This is a nice option that comes off as OEM.
Who, me?
WOOOOOOOOO!!!
yeah you.
Thanks for all your sharing here. Your sincerity is well read by others like me.
Happy New Year.
Congrats. That’s a great amp!
That is a good looking headband - could you post a link to where to find it?

FYI, for what it is worth, I use the Beautiful Audio pad for Final Audio D8K on my HD800s. Works like a charm although you cannot see the adjustments anymore, it still moves. It is only, what, 4x the cost?! But it is a really clever design and luxurious. The HD800/s are so comfortable and lightweight as stock, but for that extra bit of sexy…

Yeah they’re nice. I have one for my D8KP. I liked the 800 one because it looks stock. Nice clean look but still adds a bit more cushion.
I find the 800s really comfortable as well but occasionally I get a slight hotspot on the top of my head. Odd that it happens occasionally, but regardless I wanted to see if this would help at all. And being $25 it wasn’t much to try.
I may end up trying the Utopia one tho. Same thing happens with it. Occasionally it’ll give me a hotspot.
It IS strange how such a light zero clamp headphone can gradually make itself known…thanks for sharing the link, that is great value for sure…
My fit issue with the 800 S isn’t the top of the head, rather, it’s slight gaps at the top of the cups. They don’t seem to affect the sound, but reduce its zero clamp even further. I’ve heard that this gap also happens to some with the 820 closed back, and the resulting poor seal may account for the polarized views of the 820.
We’ll probably get scolded and spun off to the HD800 thread, but yes, I agree. With the HD800s what matters most (for me) is position of the ear in the massive, vast cup. This changes the FR more than any pad could hope to. The seal, again for me, makes no difference at all. With the HD820, yeah, fuck with the seal and they sound like two aluminum cans tied together with string on the playground.
For all these years, I’ve been only using the stock ZMF OFC cable.
So many headphone cable posts say there’s no sonic impact.
All lies!!!
Here’s Norne’s boosted special Vygarde 2 (17.8awg, not on his website).
The sonic changes are immediately noticeable – more open, airy, detailed, without any treble harshness of the ZMF OFC. Better separation and thread of all instruments.
Wow, great job Trevor! And great customer service as well.
Very nice cable, congrats!
Even from the ergonomics standpoint only it’s worth upgrading from the stock ofc ZMF cable. It’s up there with the Focal cables in terms of being irritating to use due to inflexibility and microphonics, at least to me.
At least the Focal cables look good though!
Enjoy your new cable!
After spending a wonderful time in the Netherlands and the Sound Kitchen in Rotterdam, I am now a very happy owner of a Heddphone Two!
Congrats Mark! Fantastic amp!
Oh my goodness. Now I know why there is a tube shortage.
I noticed with that “gap” at the top you do lose quite a bit of bass, but if you do put a bit of pressure to seal it more forward using your index fingers you’ll notice you lose air by doing that.
I feel like everything has a reason with headphone. I still do love mine, especially EQ’d with a LOKI +.
