Before I reveal, any other guesses? Surely someone recognizes this box.

Okay, you got the Sennheiser part correct. Close enough. Invisibleink is the winner!

Good investment!

After all these years, the HD800s is still one of the best headphones on the market, and with my Feliks Audio / Holo Cyan combo, this can‘s confirms its right to exist in the upper headphone segment.

In my case, it is used almost daily, not least for reasons of comfort.

That purple headphone cable is a Tripowin GranVia.

Picked up two of them for half price = $29 each on Amazon.
Litz wire in the construction is partly why they are so inexpensive cables.

It would be nice if Sennheiser could include a factory 4-pin XLR balanced cable.
Instead the factory balanced cable is terminated with the 4.4mm Pentaconn plug. :frowning:

In my case it was the other way around, an XLR was delivered and I had to retrofit the 4.4 mm cable. :man_shrugging:

ooooooh

my customcans cable for my DT700 looked awfully similar so I was wondering if they might be from him. I saw those Tripowin cables a lot recently. They any good?

I use these cables for my HiFiMan and Sennheiser headphones because the cables supplied are crap.

I give Tripowin a go for this, there is nothing to complain about in terms of both haptics and sound, especially for this price.

Yeah Hifiman stock cables are… something.

In my early audiophile days I loved the feel and appearance of the IV tube ones. Until I learned how cursed and unreliable they are. Even Hifiman looked at me weird when I told them that I used to like that cable

But nowadays I enjoy me some good customcans and Hart Cables if I am unhappy with the stock cable. (I really should throw some pictures of them into here, even if they are not necessarily new anymore)

Also a very good choice :+1:

In the past few weeks I bought an old Sony WM1A and then I also purchased the newer Sony ZX-707 (from Japan) music players.

I really like the size of these two players. They are just the perfect size for holding in your hand and working through their UI.

I use the DMP-A8 as a central control unit for some of my DACs and Amp’s and my first impression is that this streamer/DAC certainly does not disappoint.

Both the USB and the i2s output on my two Holo DACs work perfectly.

The in-house DAC is the best AKM chip based DAC I have ever heard. Based on my initial experience, I recommend setting the “Slow Roll Off” filter, which gives me a very analogue and detailed sound experience.

Other filter options are less satisfactory in my setup.

By the way, I am still fascinated by how good this „oldie“ sounds and how competitive this gem still is.
