A bit of a change in the DAC area for me moving to an EMM Labs DA2V2 I picked up used. Its very good so far, but pretty ruthlessly revealing and maybe slightly bright. I think that over time, and maybe with some tube tweaks I can figure out a good balance. All that being said its already sounding very good

One of the funniest unboxing experiences so far
This seller has a sense of humour. When the delivery man said “have fun with the machinery” I was puzzled how he knew what’s inside the box. And then I looked closer
The contents is just a DAC though.

I am considering to get a Z8 too
A good friend of mine got it as his first “audiophile gear” on my recommendation (he insisted on already getting to medium/high end and skipping low end stuff)
He loves it.
Since I now have way more AMPs then DACs in my collection, I was considering to get a Z8 to balance out my collection.
Probably run my Bifrost 2 with the Lyr+
Run the Z8 with my A70 Pro

From experience, this could perhaps be a very dry and sterile-sounding combination.
If I pair this kind of DAC‘s with my
Music sounds kind of lifeless.
The Z8 I personally would pair with a thick sounding class A amp to get the best of both world’s.
But that’s just my personal preference.
