Power cords have been easiest to hear differences for me.
Digital IC a lesser extent.
Analog IC is really hard for me, although the headphone cable was more obvious.

But… there’s always the thrill of the chase for better sound

How disappointing, I’m sorry to hear you got a defective amp! I hope it’s resolved quickly for you. Fwiw I’ve purchased many Schiit products over the years, all with zero problems… They should resolve it for you, keep us posted.

My experience with Schiit customer service has been uniformly first rate. I am pretty confident they’ll work with you to get this fixed

Schiit’s QC leaves something to be desired. My first purchase from them years ago (Bifrost 2) was DOA. However their customer support is excellent, I’m confident they’ll replace it for you without question. Good luck!

Hi there. Listen I’m sorry that happened. You aren’t the first person to come forward who has had problems with this amplifier.
I hope you’ll get your repair resolved and quickly! I also hope you won’t give up on the amp cause I’d love to hear your thoughts on it…once it is all fixed of course.

I gave up on this amplifier because the customer service at Schiit Audio’s European branch had very dubious business practices and gave different information on how to solve the problem, which would all have cost me a lot of extra money.

After I contacted them, Schiit USA stepped in and made sure that I could now send the device back and at least get my money back.

I have never experienced anything like this before.

And I get one or two boxes delivered over time

When you read the reviews of this company on Google and Trustpilot, and I also had similar experiences, I am really surprised why Schiit works with such a business partner.

Now I hope to get the money back :crossed_fingers:

That’s disappointing to hear. I realize Schiit Europe is a separate entity, but they still bear the name and it’s not good when a brand with some average-guy street cred has behavior issues.

The dCS thing wasn’t all that surprising to me. I half expect to be treated badly at the Porsche or Ferrari dealer. When it happens at Ford or Honda I’m wondering what they’re thinking.

Schiit needs to find better representation in Europe.

You get so many boxes delivered that you could probably do a better job for Schiit in Europe than their current reps. You got my vote!

That’s really disappointing, I’m sorry to hear that!

I always have a bit of trepidation when buying something not made domestically when it’s from a smaller company with little or no global distribution or support.

I bought a Flux amp (for example) last year, which given the situation in Ukraine I was definitely nervous about purchasing. Fortunately it has worked out ok in my case with the Flux.

As Schiit is a small to medium size company with a very lean direct-to-consumer business model, it’s really unfortunate to hear about cases like yours. That sucks!

I hope you get your money back, obviously. I have enough confidence in the integrity of Schiit’s principals that you will in the end.

Dubious business practices? Jeeze. That is the nail in the coffin. :disappointed:
You’ll definitely just have to get your money back. Keep us in the loop of your situation. We all need to learn from these experiences. I hope everything gets resolved properly.
Glad you have a Flux though! Those look awesome! If I had my choice I’d try the VOLOT. :relieved::+1:

It took a month and a lot of email exchanges between me, the Dutch company and Schiit Audio USA until I finally got my money back yesterday.

My lesson from this:
Buying Schiit products in Europe is a disgrace and is definitely not recommended with the current business partner here in Europe.

That’s really a shame, it sounds aggravating and stressful to deal with all that! Obviously, I’m glad you got your money back.

It gets complicated when you’re dealing with the distributor rather than the manufacturer directly. I’ve heard some similar stories from people dealing with the US distributor for Violectric/Lake People/Nimbus (unfortunately). It seems like sometimes distributors aren’t acting in the interests of the customer, or the manufacturer they represent. Not sure what the solution is though, as distribution companies will seem to act primarily in their own interests, leaving both the consumer and the manufacturer to deal with that third party.

@Lothar_Wolf my good man!
Thank you for the update. Appreciate that you allow us all to learn from your experiences.
Cheers man. Glad you got your cash back, but yeah shame on them. That took too long on their end. :worried:

I would love to report something more positive.

But when I placed the order, I was more focused on the positive reviews of the Schiit product than on the negative reviews of the European importer and dealer.

Like here on Google:

Or here on Trustpilot:

And at least it has one positive review.…. :joy:

Anyway, the alternative amplifier is already on its way to me, and I think I will certainly not experience any loss of quality and/or performance with this one.

Oh a package,

I think I just had one of the most underrated headphone amplifiers delivered to me.

Due to the very good experience with the HE-3 and the disgrace with the MJOLNIR, I ordered the iHA-8.

And first listening impressions are:

This is now part of my ClassA shelf

I still have to find an arrangement with the cables

What a great post! Nice news. So it was the Rebel Amp that really synergistically worked with the verite open.
I’m like you. Having multiple amps is a wonderful thing and certainly a blessing. Nice collection Lothar! Amazing.
