What's in the box!

I do. I like the mids a bit more on the AO. And with the AC I had times where there was a peak that would bother me. Maybe due to it being closed, not sure?

Well congrats! Very impressive amp, look forward to your impressions.

If that’s a large boomer, then my Cayin is a corvette.

Congratulations. Your amp was shipped in a ship. You might add a sail, hop in the box, and go for an ocean cruise.

I bought a Pelican case for my Decware – the size seems about as big for X and Y but flatter for Z.

I’ve always been a sufferer of “Upgradeitis” like many of us, but this amp is so amazing that I’m officially done. I might look at other amps to do different things, but this is peak for me. I’d also like to add that there was an issue with the amp when I received it, so it’s going to Justin for repair and it’s getting the SE upgrade while it’s there.

Edit: Nothing makes my heart warmer than a thumbs up from @pennstac he’s one of the many folks on this site who I’ve always respected and looked for guidance (and busted his chops about his love for the L tape mod). Listen to his wisdom people.

AirPods Pro 3. I put them in my ears already, as everyone know what these look like. The sound quality is notably better than my APP1, and the factory tips are vastly superior to the factory APP1 tips.

I’d like to see pics of it in your setup, and your impressions. I’m sure it’s fabulous!.

Mine arrived today as well.

They’re a bit more of a traditional IEM fit vs. the APP2, and I’m using different size tips to get the proper fit (one size up) on the APP3 - without which there is a slight fall-off in bass vs. the APP2 (which results in a slight treble emphasis).

BUT … when properly fitted … I like them better than the APP2. The effectiveness of the, already excellent, ANC is the most obvious difference - other than fit/feel. I’d have to measure them to be sure, but I suspect they’re closer to the Harman curve than before. Notionally I tend to be a non-fan of that, but for whatever reason (maybe just my imagination), the new APP3 are at least, maybe more, enjoyable than the APP2. It’s not a big delta; might be new-toy-syndrome … but I’m certainly not disappointed.

I initially used the default M size and just tried L. My ears run large, but M goes in deeper, seals well, and the noise canceling works fine. For my ears, M brings to mind the Etymotic fit (insert the insertion jokes here: __________________). I went back to M after a couple minutes – it’s easily more comfortable.

They are WAY more transparent than the APP1 – for the first time I got the “where is that sound coming from” sense. I wonder if I can hear the difference between uncompressed and compressed sources. That was not possible with APP1.

I can barely get the large in my ears, so definitely seeing that.

I’d moved “up” from Small on the APP2 to Medium on the APP3, but I’m back to Small on the APP3 now. I get the same (measured) ANC performance (AirPods Pro 3 are 6-10 dB better than the Pro 2 below 3 kHz and 6-8db or so better above that).

Clarity/resolution definitely seems improved - most notably for me in some movies where dialogue was previously harder to hear (I didn’t have any dialogue-boost turned on).

I’d still stick with my initial assessment of the FR changes.

And I am further convinced that the APP3 are a better, overall, sounding/performing unit than the prior models. Not necessarily to the point where someone happy with the APP2 should upgrade (the ANC is still the biggest change, other than fit), but enough that the discerning will likely appreciate the difference.

Mmmmmmmm tastey. But what’s peaking my interest, among all of these wonderful thing’s, is that PO100….. what’s it’s purpose in life?

Hello my friend. That Po100 is a very important and integral part of my new setup here. Basically it is a DDC and a USB to coaxial signal converter. Basically my DAP becomes a high quality media transport without the worry of the limitations behind USB audio connections. I highly recommend the P0100, especially of one decides to use their DAP as just a media transport. :+1:

I’d like to ask - is the DDC for this specific setup or for usb in general?

Applies to both really to answer your question.

The DDC acts automatically to whatever source (phone, DAP etc) you connect it with via USB input and your output of the P0100 can be either Coaxial or optical. You can actually run both simultaneously if you like. :+1:

I need coaxial to connect to my K11 R2R DAC/AMP so I’m not limited by source bitrate. Hope that answers your question. It is a very handy device, especially if your USB input leaves your sound being a bit flat and lacking punch. USB audio tends to do that in my experience. Best part is the PO100 is very inexpensive and efficiently draws power from the device you connect it to. When I use my Kann Max the battery honestly doesn’t drain faster at all. :+1:
