After 5-6 hours of powering it up, I’ve now enjoyed my first listening impressions with my Caldera Closed and am just as impressed as I was back in the dealer’s showroom.
It plays so cleanly, detailed, and powerfully that you constantly feel like you’re greeting the artists with a handshake, as they appear neatly separated and reachable in a clear image around you and in front of you.
I’m fascinated, and as much as I love tube amplifiers, I have to say that SS amplifiers for planar headphones simply sound more impressive, tighter, and more dynamic.
However, these are just my personal experiences and impressions; of course, everyone can judge this differently, so these are not “absolutes,” just my personal assessment.
That is definitely the case in my (more limited) experience. I love my Ori 3 and Rosson RAD-0 on the Cayin HA-3A, but everything tightens up on my Vio V550 or DSHA-3FN. Resolution and detail go up, bass is tighter too.
The Cayin on the other hand, expands the soundstage and makes it more 3 dimensional. Plus it has a very vivid sound to it, like you’ve turned up the color saturation levels on your TV or monitor. Which makes it loads of fun!
Congrats on your V324 Lothar, I would also get that one now if I was getting a new Violectric.
This is my third AirPods Pro: Pro, Pro 2, and now Pro 3. The big change for me is the ANC, which is excellent, the SQ - again a definite improvement, but the big difference is the fit. With the AirPods Pro 2, I could never get a comfortable fit, and my ear canals would get irritated after about 30 minutes. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the new eartips.
If I had to describe the D1 with keywords, I would describe it as follows:
Unobtrusive, precise, velvety smooth, detailed, genre-independent, clear, with a fantastic natural playback quality that simply triggers an “addictive factor” in me as a music lover.
