Anime, Japanese Music discussion

Yuki Kajiura is one of my favorite composers and her soundtrack from Princess Principal is :ok_hand:. Shadows and Fog is a good test track for bass definition, texture, control, speed, and all that good jazz…enjoy!

Last time around I did mention that the Japanese loves experiment and well… I think there is no other place that is better to demonstrate this than the BMS community, most notably with their Annually BOF contest. And oh boy, it’s damn interesting.

Imagine when you do have this type of stuff

Which are beautifully made, full of creativity

to this type of meme… thing

(Yes I know litmus is Korean, but he is making music for a Japanese event. Hence I will consider it as Japanese music)
Honestly, this is a really beautiful community when you get to the depth of it and probably one of a kind event that you would found within the Japanese community online.
Of course, recently the 2020 event just ended and I did have some of my favorites submission.
Wakadori - Night Theater

Really good mixing of the instruments, and beautiful visual to boot.

Linear ring - Enchanted love

Wholesome song, and the visuals are really in-sync with the song that makes it really appealing to draw attention to.

There is also… Bamboo but I will refrain from posting it here for content reasons.

But yeah, I recommend checking the BMS community out, it has a lot of interesting stuff to look through with a long history that I could not comprehend em all.

Over these years, a lot of the successful artists involved in this contest have found their way out and have certain achieve some of their own career goals. I will soon cover some of them. Though I need some research material.

Speaking of the upcoming Reitaisei event that will happen in several weeks… I think I began to relisten to this

Holy freaking hell ZUN. This is the literal Yuugi theme remix that I want. It just shows a lot about her character, her sheer strength, and her utmost confidence as an Oni who is one of the Devas.

This picture reminds me so much of the Game Okami.

Ah yeah, Touhou is basically Eastern centric so this type of art really fits.
One of my recent favorites though is Reitaisai 15 poster. It is really majestic

I can’t figure out why I have such an emotional reaction to a lot of anime music out there. I just listened to the Tokyo Ghoul opening (Unravel) for the first time in a while, and couldn’t help but melt into a puddle of tears.
Especially with this piano arrangement.

Never seen the anime. I have no idea what it’s even about. But the opening is just beautiful.

A lot of Japanese Anime related song actually tell a story. It’s quite easy to find the connection.

Oh yeah. I’m noticing that a lot with One Piece. Just started watching it a few months ago and i’m on episode 200 something right now.

We usually skip the opening for most of the episodes, except for the first one that we watch that day. It really gets me excited to see what happens.

And the musical queues, especially during the really happy and sad moments really pull me in and don’t let me go. Such a masterpiece of a TV show.

It has been a while since I last follow One piece. My mind just left anime a lot nowadays, though recently I watch Yuru Camp and oh hell… the ED reels me in. It fits so well with the major theme of the anime

And well, it made a great contrast with the opening also

I mean like, after all, Yuru Camp is an anime about travelling, I find it fascinating when the opening is basically having that “let’s go out” atmosphere but the ending basically is a way to conclude your journey in a relaxing, peaceful note.

Super chill anime with nice OP/ED to back, now I can understand why a lot of people go over it during the first season airing.

You only 800 to go!!

Just started watching Laid back, its a nice SofL anime. Currently enaged most with Jujutsu K and Hiromiya, Hiromiya is different than I was aniticipating.

Feel the same way with Attack on Titan OSTs!

Yuru Camps is :fire:…reminds me of silver spoon.

Absolutely love the manga but the anime…it’s alright. The problem for me is that the cut scenes are too abrupt making it feel disjointed. The OP is :fire: tho!

I don’t read much manga so can’t comment there but the anime is going a bit deeper than I thought. Initially felt it was going to be an ugly duckling story but theyre adding more complexity. Not sure where it’s going but I enjoy it. I’m a sucker for the rom com slice of life anime. If I get more in to it I may try and find the manga, assuming there’s an English translation of it.

The only manga I’m following right now is rent a girlfriend. Why? I don’t know as they can drag it out forever. Got invested in the story after a binge watch.

Hard to access print manga where I live and online access usually requires a subscription and I pay for enough already. Plus I haven’t looked into it enough to pick a service, then there are potential regional issues.

Horimiya just ended yesterday in Japan actually.

Funimation has 10 episodes so far.

Nah, I meant the manga.
