And in some ways if we didn’t have ears, the PM-50 would probably sound pretty good.

Well, it wasn’t intended to be brutal haha. Just a curious observation - and potentially an explanation for the tuning. A small yet important oversight like that could lead to this being an intentional tuning - or at least an understanding for why they were promoting it as a ‘flat’ tuning.
