Hi Alex, @lost33

Thank you!

Awesome to hear, flying is so much fun and will always be a passion of mine.

Like yourself I started young I did my first flight lesson when I was 15 and solo’d at 16, I my first solo flight was in a ‘utility rated’ Cessna 150. Something that I will never forget. Will also never forget the N# of the aircraft.

I Definitely miss flying.

Best Wishes,

Jeremy

Flew a few hundred hours in 150’s, first generation, all analog stuff, no nav stuff like today!!

Have’nt flown in 15 years!

FYI I fly a desktop pc sim called Xplane11. Pretty realistic with the right aircraft. there is a nice Cessna 172 and several regional and larger commercial jets, A319 by Tolis, E145, E175 etc from xCrafts…some of these require you to go thru a cold and dark procedure (s) others you just fly…I have rudder pedals, and a yoke column as well and VR is now becoming popular!!

Take Care

Most of my time was also in an ‘analog’ 150, standard 6 pack analog gages, the only upgraded components was the radio. The 150 was a lot of fun, especially being spin approved.

I will have to check that out thank you!

Take care,

Jeremy

Good morning. I usually rattle around headfi dot org. A user posted this site’s link about the Schiit Bifrost 2 DAC. I wanted to drop by and see what this newsgroup is all about. I liked the discobot’s tutorial btw. I’ll creep around this forum/site to get my bearings. Sincerely, ScubaMan from Canada. Dec. 27, 2019.

Welcome @Scuba_Man! I joined the forum recently myself and appreciate the wealth of knowledge shared here as well as the gentlemen providing this informative material without the usual craziness (i.e., rude behavior, ego trips, etc., etc.).

Or, perhaps you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Hello Everyone,

I originally created an account multiple months ago while I had some specific questions about a pair of headphones and was pleasantly surprised by the answers and amount of information shared with me at that time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in a situation where I could find time to be as involved as I wanted with this forum, but now I think it’s the time !

A little bit of info about my journey in the world of headphones so far :
(After re-reading myself, I realized it turned out to be quite a bit of info)

Everything started after buying my first pair of decent speakers and receiving complaints from neighbors almost right away. I didn’t listen really loudly, but the all glass and concrete construction of the tower where I lived in Downtown Vancouver seemed to transfer sound to other units pretty efficiently. Although I still prefer the presentation of a good pair of speakers, I now add a new need that had to be filled and that was the start of my journey in this world which seems pretty far from being over.

For my first decent set of headphones, I was looking for closed-back to use in the office, at home and while travelling. I ended-up choosing the Audeze El-8c paired with an Audioquest Dragonfly Black.

While appreciating my new purchase, I kept reading on multiple website and forums about different type of headphones and was wondering how much of a difference a pair of Open-back headphone would make. The first pair of open-back headphones ended-up being the Sennheiser/Massdrop HD6XX since the HD650 seemed to come back as a comparison in many reviews. At least now I would have a reference point to understand what people are talking about.

For amplification and DAC, my first desktop setup was a Schiit Vali2 and Modi3. Which were later accompanied by a Darkvoice (used only with HD6XX).

In the mean time, a Kickstarter campaign grabbed my attention and I made my first contribution to a product in development, the Audeze Mobius.

Later on, I learned that Focal was now making headphones which picked my interest since I really enjoyed their speakers. After reading multiple reviews and articles on them, I posted for the first time on this forum the questions I had about the Focal Elear and the bundle that was offered on the retail portion of this site. Although they are quite different from the HD6XX, the Focal Elear pretty much replaced them on a daily basis and became my most used pair of headphones. However, after a couple months they were replaced by their bigger brothers the Focal Clear.

As much as I liked my new Focal headphones, someone else at home didn’t like them as much especially when listening in the bedroom before falling asleep. So here starts the quest for a new pair of Closed back. I went to a local store and started by asking to listen to an Open-back pair of Audeze out of curiosity since the only 2 models ever had a chance to hear were both closed-back. The LCD-X were the first and only ones I had a chance to listen to. They were quite good, but in my opinion there was a little something missing for them to be perfect. Anyway I was there to look at closed-back so time to get to business, after listening to multiple models from different brands one stood out and was actually the closed variant of the first one I listened to that day. My final choice ended-up being the LCD-XC which were pretty similar to the LCD-X but with the little something that I thought was missing previously.

My collection now includes 2 IEM : Tin T2 Pro and KZ Zs10 Pro and one other pair of over-ear from which I will probably use the driver to start my first pair of DIY headphones, the Hifiman HE4XX

Welcome back!
I love Audeze’s sound. I think what you may have found missing in the LCD-X was the midrange (vocals in particular). It’s a bit recessed IMO, but I still love them (my daily driver).
