Pictures of your portable rig

Very nice. I would love a new Dap. Perhaps the Cayin 6ii or one of the Hiby’s (5 or 6pro).

I think either the Hiby r5 (really quite good from my understanding, in fact price to quality is really hard to beat) or the Cayin N6ii would be great upgrades for you.

Personally, based on what I have gleaned from your posts…I think you would really like both, but I think, value wise the HibyR5 would suit your needs/use case more. As it is easier to pocket and be mobile with, while providing great sound.

The N6ii is more in line with the bulky heavy designs, but is more “future” proof with the modular system…but you are definitely paying for the premium build and modularity of the DAP.

The Hiby R5 when I got to play with @antdroid R5 for a short lunch meet, was very premium and sleek, and for the asking price an easy recommendation.

…that is all I got on the topic lol

Thanks Tyler for the great insight. They both look like great boys. I shall start saving and I will let you know what I choose.

I will second the N6ii-- it’s an amazing sounding DAP. It’s bulky but just within the realm of pocket portability imho and furthermore it’s futureproof with the capacity for new motherboard add ons. Also it has fantastic battery life and a very effective EQ if that’s your thing. I’ve used it with Solaris, VX and IER Z1R and never found it lacking.

I thought I’d give a quick impressions post on a nice “portable” setup.

The Massdrop x Koss KSC75 takes the original KSC75 and changes the color, changes the cable, making it worse, and packages it as an exclusive to the Drop.com site.

It’s pretty large for my ears, and a little heavy. They feel like giant speakers on my ears. The sound is large and insane, in this regard. I don’t see how this is a great portable unit to be honest. I have to lug around this big DAP with me to use it too, since it’s wired….

The mid-range though is pretty warm and smooth. Due to its clip-on nature, the soundstage is nice and large. The treble can be a tad tinny at times and sometimes uneven, but it’s airy. The bass is severely rolled off, but has enough mid and upper bass there to give a small amount of punch and warmth. All of this, of course, depends how the driver is positioned on your ears, or your helmet in my case.

For under $20, and as low as $10 for the original version, this is a nice purchase that I’d recommend for normal sized humans, but I wish it weren’t so large for my little frame.

If you attach wheels to your dap you could skate around while rocking some sweet tunes. :+1:t4:

Cayin n6ii -> E01 Module -> ALO Super Litz -> EE Legend X -> Azla Sednas

The E01 module for the n6ii is a magical little piece of kit-- improved clarity, separation, dynamics and overall “liquidity” of the signature. Someone described it as a “mini N8” and I would agree. Very hard to put this combo down. It even brings a touch oft-needed discipline to LX’s thunderous bass.

I have upgraded my gear so far. Cayin N3, ER2XR, and Gbuds (not in the picture), and my phone, of course.

Pleasantly surprised my entire portable rig with Focal Elegia, periapt balanced cable, XLR to 4.4mm pentacon balanced adapter, Cayin N6ii DAP and the Elegia cable all fit into the Elegia carry case!

That’s awesome. What more could you need? :+1:t4:

Edit: Maybe Stellia.

yeahh there is plenty of space in the case / purse

I tried the same with the xDSD an it worked somehow - however have 2 different OTG cables and other adapters in the Peli 1020 MircoCase for the ifi - so I keep it divided

nice to see you also carry the original cable with you!
I keep it also in the case + my braided custom balanced 3.5 TRRS + a 3.5 TRRS male to 4PIN XLR female adpater + a third 1.2m super flexibel single ended third party Denon/Hifiman cable for the rare times I use it with the Es100 instead of the xDSD

Here’s my portable carry-all. Today inside the DD Audio case is a Sony NW-ZX507, a pair of qdc Anole VX and 64 Audio U12T iems along with a few accessories in the pockets.

Yeah, kind of wish I’d tried this sooner…

Makes for more room in my backpack for other stuff, as I just hand carry the Focal case

of course! I carry mine with a necklace in front of my heart all the time :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:, even if the backpack is empty.

I just got my iBasso DX 160 today, and now my portable rig is complete.

Are you going to get the Nutube module for portable tube goodness?

I don’t think the DX 160 can take the modules, but I sure wish it did. I am on a tight budget at the moment, so went for the DX 160, but would love to get the DX 220 with the modules eventually.
