I’ll take you literally when you say literally exploding. Literally, this photo is not mucus. It’s demonic pea soup.
Rest well and recover well.

Unfortunately a negative test means very little. Even with the original variant, you could test 10 people with known infection dates every day for 2 weeks. On no day would more than 8 actually test PCR positive, and most days it would be 0-5. With BA.2 current PCR tests are even less accurate. (Former infectious disease epidemiologist myself).
And the last few posts are proof that COVID is still a big fucking problem!
Yes, I’m more than well aware. Multiple tests, all negative. Yes, all the rapid tests, but neither I nor my spouse get exposed to many people, and we’re very strong on the accepted preventative measures, including masks indoors in public. While vaccinated and boosted, it is of course still possible.
I’d say that without taking PCR, I can’t be sure, but I’ve improved rapidly in the past couple of days, consistent with a bacterial infection. Improvement started about 48 hours after initiation of antibiotic course, also consistent with the antibiotic used.
Finally I’ve had staph and strep before, and it really seemed similar, but no fever observed. Not everyone gets fever, not everyone loses taste, etc. but this was more likely something else. Further, doctors in the area have confirmed that there is a lot of non-covid sinus and sore throat crap going around. And as @Headphone25 says, COVID is still a BF problem. I agree with the new BA.2 rearing it’s ugly head. The demonic pea soup is pretty much gone now.
Yeah such a mess but glad you’re on the mend. When spouse and I had it first time in August 2 out of 3 tests negative on the same day for him and he was more symptomatic than I was. Vaxxed of course, now triple boosted by still got both omicron and BA.2 which often has GI symptoms which I didn’t know at the time a few weeks ago. Fortunately the 2 omicron infections symptoms lasted less than half a day. But yeah nowhere near over anywhere despite the wishful thinking of so many. Up 75% in DC this week and with home testing it’s safe to say a lower % of infections will be reported going forward, perpetuity making things seem better than they actually are.
I spent over a decade in STM (Scientific, Technical, and Medical) publishing, so not prone to wishful thinking, except for a short while if I buy a lottery ticket. (Which I will do when the expected value exceeds the cost). Going to schedule a second booster soon, just past 4 months out. Was really hoping that newer boosters would come out with broader spectrum protection. Not really worried about myself, but I don’t want to be the kid that brings something home to my 93 year old Mother.
I read the peer-reviewed journal articles 11 years ago saying that with the coronavirus’ residuals in the Chinese bat and civet populations, it was only a matter of time until a novel variant of SARS-2 jumped over the species fence again.

Interesting poll results. One third are blessed with Mothers with neither listening nor hearing problems.
As for the rest of us…
I think that we should have had the option to choose between:
