Incidentally, can you offer any comparisons of the SR-5N to the Hive?
UM Mest Mkii came today. Only had like 5 minutes with it tonight. Letting it play all night and give it a whirl tomorrow. Previous best/favorite IEM is the JVC HA-FW01 which I love and use everyday. I can already tell from my few minutes…this is a whole new world

Maybe tomorrow in some natural light…They’re pretty nice looking IMO. Didn’t think I’d like the gold flake much but it’s pretty subtle.

Looks like you can get them direct from Uniquemelody.org too. Might be better for you that way?

I hear you on that bro. The Hive CAN be used with normal bias, but it cuts volume, and I suspect quality. If you watch Birgir’s site (Mjolner) you can sometimes pick up one of his mod tubes for about $1200. You should also be able to find something OK and used solid state in the $800 range. The difference is huge over the SRD-6. I had to make a move because I thought my headphones had gone bad, but it was the SRD-6. (I sent them both off for service). The amp just made way more sense.
I was looking for a good used SR-L700 or L300L, or maybe a deal on the SR-007 when the Hive came to my attention. @nectarsoundnet comes on here with some regularity. I’ve been trying to arrange a way for a reviewer here to listen to my Hive and some other eStats and give a nice video review. I’m willing to part with them for a couple of weeks to do that.

Joking aside, someone did post a while ago that he got shocked by his eStats shortly after a shower…
Personally, I never put headphones on when my hair is still wet. Unrelated to electric shocks

This made me facepalm so hard.
That’s why I always say that you shouldn’t get into estats unless you have the knowledge about them.
Having damp hair is a no, no, let alone wet hair
