Thanks! The Atriums are quite magical on this amp so far. I was worried about not noticing a big difference from my BHC (which served me very well) but so happy to be wrong.
And love me some tube glow any time (especially midnight), nothing weird about that,
Really enjoying the setup with the Holo May and the EC Studio B! Just waiting for a CFA3 now so I can drive my Abyss 1266 TC and then I can rest in peace…
The VC has been mostly hijacked by the wife so I don’t get as much time on it but I think I generally gravitate towards the Atriums more. Although every time I go back to VC, the bass always surprises me. VC is a little bit more fun listen I’d say whereas Atrium is a little more musical, if that makes sense.
For more casual listening where I just want to chill, I might prefer VC but when I really want to dig into a Jazz or a metal album, I’ll usually reach out for Atriums.
I had been thinking about picking up a set of VOs for a three way comparison but I’ve also been Caldera-curious but since I live on east coast, I’ll wait till NYC can jam to try them. I’m also hoping that Zach might have “surprise” units at the show that I can snag or wait for some cool LTD releases.
That’s great! Yeah, I’d wait on the Caldera over the VO since you have a VC and atrium. I personally liked the VC over the VO. They’re close but the VC had more bass imo, and a touch faster to my hears.
Heck of a setup man! Hope you enjoy!
If I ever get a consistent amount of time to listen again, I’ll build a susvara chain again but that’s an expensive one to pair.
I haven’t been Susvara curious yet and hope to keep that way for some time but from what I gather CFA3 with Studio B pre should have enough juice for Susvara.
Well it is so nice that you have so many great pairs of headphones even enough to sacrifice a pair to your wife. I can’t say the say the same. Lol they are all mine!!!
Holy crap. You’re an amazing ZMF carrier. God those are beautiful headphones and I wonder if you went through new toy syndrome and just held them up to your eyes and analyzed every facet of the design. Lol I did this with the D/8000 and to answer your question. Yes. I really do love them because of the relaxed tuning they carry. My friend, I can honestly listen to any kind of music even if it’s really poorly recorded to a reasonable degree. For instance I love so much metal and for the longest time I couldn’t listen to bands like Disturbed because of the hot compressed sound they use to choose how the music sounds. On a HD 800 disturbed’s music is absolute murder. Now on the D-8000 ? Bearable. This is just an example of how the D-8000 can allow many different types of recordings to be acceptable. I love that and that is what has been missing in my stable for many many years.
Also. My god. The design of these headphones. Wow. Just wow. Such quality.
Oh these are purdy. Like damn gorgeous. There are a good number of things to figure out right now, but I do know in the morning I am going to hop in the chat bugging Alan to give a message I’m eternally grateful for him, Taron, Andrew, April, Kyle, Paul, DMS, Andrew Park (Resolve), and everyone else over on their team for the years of constantly answering way too many questions from me. They always help me figure out what I want. I love them so much lol
