Nice. I recommend to give em’ a listen without the Yaxis’ for a bit before adding them. The difference is more pronounced than some would assume.
I think they make great gifts as well!

Will do. It’s been years since I had my old pair. The ones from Koss ought to arrive weeks before the Yaxis’ do. And the cheapies from Drop won’t drop until mid May.
good to know the changes Yaxi bring
Any one compare Wire’d Porta to Koss’s wireless product? I’m thinking of getting the wireless ones just to use at the gym with an old Cell. So I have my workout apps but no messy wires to deal with or stuff in my pockets
I haven’t had a chance to listen to the wireless version, but from my understanding they use the same drivers as the wired Porta Pros.
I’m sure someone will chime in with a comparison.
They’re the same, but you get some of that classic low level BT white noise and buzzing sounds from the cheap built in amp. And it only supports regular SBC and AptX. Beyond convenience reasons I’m not convinced, especially for $80.
Found this nifty video comparing the Porta Pros with its stablemates.
This should help clarify any questions regarding the differences between models.
Thanks @metal571 for the great video!
1980s flashback! Get out the Walkman and acid washed jeans!
This is a 1980’s flashback done proper.
I was wrong in my assumption, “Bert” excl. did ZMF related videos
thank you!
Looking back on this thread after searching the net, I wonder what or where one can find some really nice drivers to replace the PortaPros with. Most I can find are 40mm, not 35. There were some possibles at 36.5mm, but I don’t know the quality.
I see that people mod low-end Grados with new drivers all the time, but not so much Koss.
They have a limited lifetime warranty, which I’ve ‘used’ to replace a couple of broken (cable detached from driver) units.
Plus they’re relatively inexpensive so I assume if people aren’t using the warranty they’ll just buy another set.
Yes, but I was thinking sleeper set. Like finding some planar magnetic driver to insert.
No problem. “Bert’s Reviews” have reviewed a few different headphones.
When I first saw the listing I thought “wtf?”, but after watching one I quickly watched the other reviews!
It’s been a while since he/they’ve posted a review, I hope they create more content. So much fun.
I saved it for tomorrow in the lunch break
Yes the first encounter was strange and turned out to be highly informative and super funny
at the moment I can’t stop listening to the “Tubular Bells” while reading a manual
Damn, I only have the ES 100 and the biggest annoyance is how the volume changes from pressing the physical volume buttons are so heavily rate limited that they’re almost pointless. Guess I need the Fiio.
Edit: nice try automatically sneaking an affiliate link into my post by recognition of a product name, forum. Fixed.
Added a red IEM cable to the portapro.
I actually originally made a paracord cable, similar to the one I made for the Arya today, for the Portapro but the 3.5mm connector broke, while I was putting it together, so out of spare parts right now.
It would have been pretty thick for the little portapro.
Yaxi pads come this weekend, hopefully.
I thought I would experiment with modding these for comfort, without doing a whole headband replacement. There was a hotspot the headband would create and I wanted to get rid of it.

The process is self-explanatory. Tape soft things to hard surface, cut down to appropriate size.
So far so good! Been cleaning around the house so I have more free time this weekend, and these have been much more comfortable.
Yes it does, used it all day today while shooting photos!
